
The Bellingham Railway Museum offers many special events for members, non-members, educational institutions and private entities. Events such as railroad history walks along abandoned railroad grades, lectures and presentations related to railroading and transportation, Boy Scout Railroading Merit Badge Workshops, club meetings, traveling exhibits to regional train shows, participation in Gallery Walks and downtown events, annual silent auction and of course our Holiday open house.

We will be offering train rides through a cooperative agreement with the Lake Whatcom Railway. Ride historic Northern Pacific Railroad equipment on a historic section of rail!

A look back at the Burlington Northern and Amtrak in the Bellingham area more than 30 years ago. This is before the days of the Talgo-style Cascades and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe. There are slides of the long-gone colorful Amtrak E Units (pasenger) and Burlington Northern
F Units (freight).
Al Currier is a native of Farmington, NH. He became a rail fan and model railroaderat an early age as the grandson of a Boston & Maine station agent-telegrapher. He moved to Bellingham
in 1978 as a minister. He has written many articles on them Milwaukee Road's Whatcom operations.

Come have a fun ride on historical trackage inside the Bellingham city limits. We will take you from Orchard Place east to I-5 on the former Bellingham Bay & British Columbia Railroad, and later the Milwaukee Road line.

The Bellingham Railway Museum will be operating its Speeders for the Lake Whatcom Railway on Saturdays this summer. We will start from Park road and roll up to the edge of Lake Whatcom, to the Blue Canyon Picnic Area. We will operate to meet the Lake Whatcom Railway's Saturday ride. We will also be offering rides between 12pm-3pm on those Saturdays, so come out and enjoy a ride on part of Northern Pacific's Bellingham Branch in Beautiful Whatcom County.

WHAT: Artist Demonstration: The Bellingham Railway Museum is pleased to announce an art display and technique demonstration by Internationally renowned artist Roger Watt. Mr. Watt is an art consultant teaching drawing with Capilano University and West Vancouver Arts. His pencil drawings have been exhibited both in the UK and Vancouver, most notably at The Royal Academy in London, The National Railway Museum in York, England and Vancouver in an exhibition titled “Capturing the Canadian Spirit” for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

WHAT: Northern Light" A portrait of BC Rail: The Presenter will be Dale Sanders, well known author and photographer from Ferndale WA. Dale was editor of CTC Board Railroads Illustrated magazine and has authored numerous books such as "The Milwaukee Road"," Northwest Passage" and "SP Oregon Division."
His latest book "Northern Light" A portrait of BC Rail will be available for sale and autographing. This is also the subject of his presentation.

WHAT: Bellingham Native Shares Railroading Stories Lecture & Slide Presentation : Mr. Montague is a retired native of Bellingham, he graduated from Bellingham High School in 1945. He spent two years (1944 & 1945) as a general laborer and "gandy dancer," or one who worked primarily on a track gang, for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad in Bellingham. Gene was later employed with the US Post Office as a letter carrier, with a route in the Lettered Streets for 17 of those years. Gene is gifted with an excellent memory and loves to share stories of his past experiences with many groups in our city.
